Eric Steager joined Touchdown Ventures in 2022, leveraging his 20+ years of venture capital and private equity experience to support the management of Touchdown’s existing corporate vc funds as well as partner with corporations building new cvc funds.

Previously, Eric established and led the corporate venture capital program for Anthem, the largest and only publicly traded Blue Cross Blue Shield managed healthcare company. He also helped create and lead the strategic investing effort at Independence Blue Cross, the Philadelphia based managed care company. At both, Eric focused on strategic investments within the early-stage healthcare and technology sectors.

Additionally, Eric held investment roles at a family office, GPX Enterprises, and the venture capital firm, Safeguard Scientifics. He has also been an Adjunct Professor of Finance and Entrepreneurship at both Drexel University and Temple University.

His early career included founding a private investment fund focused on acquiring a middle market manufacturing company in the Midwestern United States and healthcare investment banking at Houlihan Lokey and Ernst & Young.

Eric holds an MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business and a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University.

While originally from outside of Philadelphia with subsequent stops in Atlanta and Chicago, he currently lives outside of Indianapolis, in Carmel (pronounced like the candy, not the one in California), Indiana with his wife and two teenage children.

A tie, the Eagles defeating the Patriots in Superbowl LII or the Phillies winning the World Series in ’08, while trying not to wake my new born daughter who was asleep in my arms during the final pitch by Brad Lidge.
