J.J. Sass joined Touchdown Ventures in 2021 and focuses on investments in consumer, property technology, and the Internet of Things (IoT) sectors.
Prior to joining Touchdown, J.J. was a private equity and venture capital investor in both New York and California. He spent 4 years at Jasper Ridge Partners, where he invested in secondary and direct investments in various sectors and stages. More recently, he worked on the investment teams at In-Q-Tel, NEA, and Insight Partners. J.J began his career in New York at Goldman Sachs, where he helped to build and manage multi-asset class global portfolios for a variety of institutional clients.
J.J. holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Notre Dame, an MBA from Columbia Business School, and a Master of International Affairs from the Columbia School of International & Public Affairs. While at Columbia, J.J. ran Columbia Build Lab, the tech startup incubator he helped launch, build, and scale. He also founded Talk to Tina, a people-first public opinion digital media startup.
J.J. is a lifelong follower of policy and international affairs, has a soft spot for anything related to Benjamin Franklin, drinks far too much coffee, and enjoys nothing more than hiking with his wife, Cristina.

Favorite sports memory
Attending Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals in Oakland, when LeBron James led the Cavaliers to an improbable comeback victory against the Golden State Warriors (who had just recorded the best regular season of all time).
