Kindra Tatarsky joined Touchdown Ventures in 2018 and is a Director in the San Francisco office. Curious by nature, Kindra has been a student of the consumer her entire career. Starting on Wall Street as an Equity Research Analyst, Kindra’s career path provides a unique perspective on how consumer behavior and preferences, coupled with emerging technologies, drives disruption across industries. Her initial focus on retail and consumer products expanded during her tenure at Golden Seeds, Nielsen and a high-growth start-up. Working with businesses across consumer, media, healthcare, financial services, software and real estate illustrated that consumer behavior is a common catalyst to driving change.

Kindra’s experience in analyzing and investing in businesses across a range of growth stages focuses on the combined value of quantitative and qualitative analysis. While numbers and data are critical to validating an opportunity, understanding stakeholder motivations, internally and externally, are also critical in determining the success of a business. Touchdown Ventures brings her experience full circle, with a perspective honed by public market and private investing, strategy, corporate partnerships and M&A. Believing in the power of innovation at scale, Kindra is excited to partner with corporations who pursue venture as a means of future-proofing their businesses.

Kindra’s prior roles in corporate development at Nielsen and RetailNext exposed her to the power of Big Data and the technologies critical to operationalizing such assets. Her experience at Nielsen, leading partnerships, acquisitions and investments across key Silicon Valley companies, provided firsthand knowledge of the opportunities and challenges for corporations and start-ups working together. Prior to Nielsen, Kindra was Head of Operations at Golden Seeds, where she led the deal flow, diligence and operations for an angel group focused on investing in companies led by women.

Kindra’s background also includes stints at Nokia Growth Partners, educating the team on the opportunity in retail and consumer; Forerunner Ventures, honing the thesis and launch of early investments; and BofA Equity Research, differentiating her approach by using a qualitative lens to validate the story told through rigorous financial analysis. Kindra graduated from UCLA with a BA in English and a minor in Business.

Kindra lives in Mill Valley, CA with her husband and two teenagers. Together, they enjoy traveling the world, immersing themselves in the great outdoors and spending time with friends who enjoy the same.

Favorite Team: While her loyalties are split between the UCLA Bruins and the Nebraska Cornhuskers, if pushed she would have to choose the Cornhuskers out of loyalty to her Grandfather Bob Devaney. It was he who taught Kindra the power of being kind but firm, inquisitive but discerning, and passionate but deliberate. Always rooting for the underdog, his legacy demonstrates the power of grit, determination, creativity and empathy in working towards a common goal.
